Rachel Dale, the Celebrant

So you have a ceremony coming up?

Well, if you’ve come this far then whatever you’re looking for – I think I can help…

My desire to become a celebrant came about through being so disheartened by the impersonal nature of various ceremonies I had been to — weddings, christenings and funerals.

What is supposed to be one of the most important and memorable of days marking peoples lives — should be about them, capturing what is unique and special about them personally, the way they would like it not the way society or anything/anyone else says it should be.

I’m a professionally trained actress and the skills I have developed in that capacity are invaluable as a celebrant. You will always hear every word I say for a start!

I am also an experienced writer: from writing a weekly newspaper column to bespoke poems for friends to character monologues which I sometimes perform on the comedy circuit — it all rather helps with writing the ceremonies too.

I love meeting new people and learning about them, I am not daunted by public-speaking and will not make your ceremony like an episode of Acorn Antiques (unless you wish – that could be fun!).

Whatever your wishes, it will be entirely to your>

intimate or epic, traditional or wacky, inside or out…

I am sensitive and completely adaptable to your needs, non-judgemental and open-minded.

Variety is the spice of life and I like a change.

It’s your day and should be as you wish. It’s my job to work with you and make that happen.

I’m a non-God ‘Godmother’ and was best woman at my best friend’s themed civil partnership; both were joyous because they had the freedom not necessarily otherwise available. Offering that service myself is something everyone says I’m perfect for.

My aim is to make sure you get what you are hoping for and your loved ones come away recognising the ceremony was about you or maybe even learned something new about you. How many times is this not the case? And how disappointing is it when that happens.

Weddings — straight or gay, namings, divorces, renewal of vows, memorials, funerals, or whatever occasion you wish to mark — let’s have a chat. I can help and I’d love to meet you.

I’m based in North London but am from East Yorkshire so am happy to work at either end.

So many of our guests commented on how brilliant they thought you were. Thank you very much for making our day so wonderful — it was perfect in every way. Sophie and Nicola

Thank you so much for being our celebrant and for being such an integral part of the happiest day of our lives. You really were the perfect choice & the ceremony was just as we hoped it would be. Everyone came and told us how much they enjoyed the ceremony and how memorable it was and what a great job you did. Ben and Richard

Wow… thank you sooooo much for such an incredible ceremony. Everybody commented on how it was the best ceremony they have ever been to and we were absolutely over the moon! Emma and Ben

There are people in the world who need to meet you! Kate and Baz

We really can’t thank you enough for everything that you did in order to make our wedding day such a stonking success! Interestingly it also gave people a perspective on Humanism as we were answering questions throughout the evening on the ceremony process. An incidental that we particularly liked was being able to face our friends throughout the service rather than an altar. If you ever need a testimonial as to your skills, professionalism and warmth, please look no further than us!! With very best wishes, Mr & Mrs Denham!

Maxine Beech, the Celebrant

Hello! I’m delighted you’ve found this site and that you’re interested in Humanist weddings.

My main weddings website is now here: www.maxinebeech.com — but please read on for a quick summary.

By choosing a humanist celebrant, you are not just hiring someone to conduct your ceremony. A humanist celebrant will guide you through a journey to design and build a tailor-made wedding that is as traditional, meaningful , fun or quirky as you want it to be. We are designers, planners, advisers, creative writers, story-tellers, and public speakers. We come with bags of enthusiasm, warm smiles and lots of ideas and experience.

If you book me to be your wedding celebrant, it’s really important that I get to know you well -from key events like the first time you met and your engagement to your everyday life. I try to arrange your wedding consultation at your home.

Unlike other services, you will have ownership of your entire humanist ceremony. But don’t worry — I’ll guide you through the whole process. I’ll give you some small tasks to work on so that I know I’m creating exactly what you want. I will do all the hard work of research and writing, and you should find the whole experience fun, relaxed and enjoyable.

You can include traditional wedding vows, but some couples prefer to write their own. The process of writing your own vows is a great activity for the two of you, when many other wedding decisions can be stressful or just plain unromantic. Choosing a humanist wedding means you get to take some time out to focus on you, and why you are getting married in the first place.

I am also a mastermind of wedding money-saving and DIY weddings — after all, you’re not restricted to licensed venues so you can save a fortune!

If this sounds like your cup of tea, please join me for one — I’m more than happy to meet up for a drink and an informal chat about your plans before booking.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Maxine x

I conduct ceremonies which celebrate and mark significant events and occasions.

Humanist weddings
are marriage or partnership ceremonies conducted in the way you would like, in any venue or outdoor location of your choice.
Humanist funerals are non-religious ceremonies that celebrate a person’s life in a way that is deeply meaningful and relevant.
Humanist baby namings are a beautiful way of celebrating a new addition to the family, at any age.
