I am a Humanist Celebrant based in the North East of England. As a Humanist Celebrant I can enable you to mark the momentous and poignant occasions in your life, in the way that you wish to celebrate or commemorate them.
I trained as a Celebrant in 2004, and started conducting weddings initially. I am constantly amazed at the ideas that couples bring to me and how much thought they have given to making their day unique. Conducting a ceremony is a responsibility that I take very seriously; you only get one chance to make it perfect. I have been in some very varied locations during the course of my work and find it very interesting and exciting. While I have years of
experience preparing ceremonies to draw from, I am also happy to help with suggestions, should you require them. I pride myself in being someone who is supportive, equable and committed to being the professional facilitator you need.
I can perform Baby namings, which are a true delight to attend. As in wedding ceremonies, every situation is unique and of course every baby is different. I enjoy meeting with the parents and helping them create a meaningful and happy ceremony for the baby and to encourage the rest of the family and friends to take part, making the day very personal but relaxed.
I am able to perform funeral ceremonies. As all of us have at some time lost a loved one, I realise the importance of being able to have the ceremony that is bespoke to the person who has died. Again, drawing on life experiences, I am in touch with the real world and can empathise with situations that arise in people’s lives. The ceremonies that I conduct will be delivered professionally with humour or gravity as the moment dictates.
During a long and varied career, I’ve always worked with lots of different people in local government, the public and private sector but nothing compares to the reward and satisfaction I get from my work as a Humanist Celebrant.
